Monumental Napoleon III Gilt- and Patinated Bronze Centerpiece third quarter 19th century, after a model by Pierre-Philippe Thomire (French, 1751-1843), the gilt-bronze flaring basket pierced with grapes and grape leaves, and supported by three patinated bronze classical maidens grasping gilt-bronze wreaths, above a cylindrical cove-molded base ornamented with medallions alternating with classical masques, the bottom edge decorated with lotus leaves. h. 35-1/4", dia. 15-3/4" Provenance: Estate of Norma Crawford Myers, Dallas, Texas.
