second quarter 19th century, in the chinoiserie taste, the edges framed with painted scrollwork and rocaillework on a gray ground, the central scene painted with a pair of Chinese musicians, fringed shelves holding vases of flowers, a parasol and a ho-ho bird in one corner.

**Surface dirt, surface losses, abrasions and marks throughout but particularly visible along edges. Area of loss on 4th panel (mid left and right); water stain in white, vertical area on 5th panel, area of inpainting on 5th panel in mid left. Signs of inpainting upper mid left of 3rd panel, signs of inpainting along bottom edges and by the edges of the panels.
