French Belle Epoque Giltwood Overmantel Mirror

fourth quarter 19th century, with a dentillated and leaf-carved cornice, the shield-form finial hung with carved giltwood swagging, flanked by bold, carved swags of fruit, the beveled mirror plate set with an ogee surround carved with bellflowers, the side panels with carved medallions.

**In "as found" condition. Scattered losses to the gesso and some flaking to the gilding. There are a few chipped losses to the lower corners of the frame which have been touched up with gold paint. Light wear to the gilding from rubbing (mostly along the inner edge of the frame). There are a few small holes around the frame presumably from previous mounting to a wall. The mirror plate is fine.
