Pair of Rare Minton Pate-sur-Pate Cabinet Plates

ca. 1894, English, signed by Lawrence Birks, decorated with pate-sur-pate central panels on a cream ground, with frolicking cherubs and swirling diaphanous drapes with birds, branches and flowers, the panel with the birds signed "LB" on the lower right, the border pierced with Greek keys and raised gilt swags of bellflowers, with Minton's gilt globe mark, the retailer, "Gilman Collamore & Co., New York", an impressed "Mintons" mark, a diamond registration mark, the 1894 date letter and a painted overglaze decorator's mark, "K 68514".

**Beautiful lot with both in very good condition.
One example with an old 1/4" crack from the lower rim edge to underneath. This is not visible on the top surface. There is an insignificant "flea bite" or two farther along the outer edge.
Scattered faint rubbing to the small gilt flowers and dots within the ground.
