Italian Polychromed Commode
Sold for $1,750
19th century and later, the shaped and banded faux marbre top above a conforming case fitted with three long drawers, each with two floral-decorated panels, the sides decorated en suite, raised on cabriole feet.
h. 35-1/2", w. 48", d. 24"
**In very good restored condition. The piece is tight, sturdy and stable with no movement observed in its joints. The surface exhibits evidence of restoration and inpainting, most notably to the top. Minor mars, abrasions and blemishes. Drawers open and close freely. Two of the three drawers retain their locks. No key present.
NOTE: This is either a 20th-century bench-made piece or an earlier piece that has been extensively reworked. The drawers slide freely on modern metal hardware. Drawer bottoms and sides appear to have been replaced.
