Italian Neoclassical Walnut, Fruitwood and Marble-Top Commode
early 19th century, the rectangular marble top above a case fitted with three long drawers, the bottom two centered by an inlaid classical figural medallion, raised on tapering square legs.
h. 34-1/2", w. 47", d. 21-1/2"
Provenance: Estates of Violeta Judell Van Ronzelen and Harold Benn Judell, New Orleans, Louisiana.
**The marble is fine with no evidence of damage or repairs. Each side of the case has a vertical shrinkage crack. The right side has filler in the crack. The left side has very small veneer losses. The top drawer has losses to the veneer banding. The center drawer protrudes slightly from the rest and may need some adjustments to the runner. Retains a nice, pleasing patina.
